Akoko-Nan Parenting Education and Encouragement Group is committed to making our website and parenting education program accessible to people with disabilities.

We want parents, caregivers, community members, and referring professionals to be able to access information, register for the program, join classes, review lessons, submit homework, make payments, and contact us as independently and effectively as possible.

Our Accessibility Efforts

We are actively reviewing and improving the Akoko-Nan website with accessibility in mind.

Our accessibility work includes attention to:

  • Clear and readable text

  • Appropriate color contrast

  • Logical heading structure

  • Keyboard navigation

  • Descriptive links and buttons

  • Alternative text for meaningful images

  • Forms that provide understandable labels and error messages

  • Responsive layouts that work across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices

  • Browser zoom and text resizing

  • Access to important information without relying on color alone

These are among the practices identified by the U.S. Department of Justice as important to accessible web design.

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as a reference for our accessibility work. WCAG is an internationally recognized accessibility standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative.

We are continuing to review the website and are not currently representing that every page or third-party component has been formally certified as fully conforming with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Third-Party Services

Some parts of the Akoko-Nan experience use services provided by other companies, including Wix, Zoom, PayPal, and Google.

While we work to make the overall Akoko-Nan experience accessible, some features, interfaces, or content provided directly by third parties may be outside our control.

If a third-party service creates an accessibility barrier that prevents you from using an Akoko-Nan service, please contact us. We will make reasonable efforts to help you access the information or service in another way.

Online Classes

Akoko-Nan currently provides online classes using Zoom.

If you need an accommodation or encounter an accessibility issue that affects your ability to participate in an online class, please contact us so we can discuss available options.

Alternative Access

If any information, form, lesson, document, payment option, or other part of our website is difficult for you to access because of a disability, please contact us.

When reasonably possible, we will work with you to provide the information or service in another accessible format or through another method.

You may also contact us if you need assistance with:

  • Program registration

  • Class access

  • Lesson materials

  • Homework submission

  • Payments

  • Program information or communications

Report an Accessibility Problem

We welcome feedback about accessibility barriers.

If you encounter a problem, it is helpful if you can tell us:

  • The page or feature you were trying to use

  • What happened or what prevented access

  • The web address of the page, if available

  • The device, browser, or assistive technology involved, if you are comfortable providing that information

  • How you would prefer us to respond

You do not need to provide technical information in order to request help.

The U.S. Department of Justice recommends providing a way for website visitors to report accessibility issues so site owners can identify and correct barriers.

As the Akoko-Nan website, curriculum, technology, and services change, we will continue reviewing accessibility and making improvements where practical.
