Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: August 16, 2026

Welcome to Akoko-Nan Parenting Education and Encouragement Group ("Akoko-Nan," "we," "our," or "us").

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Akoko-Nan website and your participation in services offered through the website, including registration, class access, lesson materials, homework submission, and online payments.

By using this website or submitting a registration, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to any program rules or acknowledgments presented during registration.

About Akoko-Nan

Akoko-Nan provides parenting education, encouragement, group discussion, and practical tools intended to help parents and caregivers strengthen relationships with their children and families.

The program currently operates as an open-enrollment 16-session parenting program. Participants may begin at different points in the rotating 16-lesson curriculum and continue until they have completed the required number of attended sessions.

Current class schedules, format, location, and access information may change from time to time.

Educational Program, Not Professional Advice

Akoko-Nan is a parenting education and support program.

Information provided through classes, lesson materials, homework, discussions, emails, or this website is intended for general educational purposes.

Akoko-Nan does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment, mental-health treatment, legal advice, or representation.

Participants should consult an appropriate licensed professional regarding medical, mental-health, legal, child-welfare, financial, or other professional matters specific to their circumstances.

Participation in Akoko-Nan does not replace services ordered or recommended by a court, medical provider, therapist, social worker, attorney, or other professional.

Registration

Participants may register through the Akoko-Nan website.

Registration information should be complete and accurate to the best of the participant's knowledge.

Submitting a registration form does not by itself establish attendance, completion, compliance with a court or agency requirement, or active participation in the program.

A participant becomes actively participating when attendance is confirmed by Akoko-Nan staff or facilitators.

Akoko-Nan may contact a participant to confirm or correct registration information when necessary.

Identity Verification

Akoko-Nan may ask participants to provide their legal name as shown on identification and may verify identity during a class or another appropriate interaction.

Akoko-Nan generally does not require participants to upload or permanently provide an image of identification through the website.

Identity verification may be recorded administratively when needed for program records, certificates, referrals, court-related documentation, or other legitimate program purposes.

Attendance and Completion

The Akoko-Nan program currently requires 16 confirmed attended sessions for completion.

Because the curriculum operates on a rotating basis, participants do not necessarily begin with Lesson 1.

Missing a class does not automatically remove a participant from the program. A participant may continue attending until the required number of sessions has been completed.

Merely opening the Class Access page, clicking a Zoom link, or entering an online meeting does not automatically establish attendance.

Akoko-Nan staff or facilitators determine and record official attendance.

A completion certificate or other completion record is issued only after Akoko-Nan confirms that the applicable program requirements have been satisfied.

Class Conduct

Akoko-Nan is intended to provide a respectful and supportive environment for parents and caregivers.

Participants are expected to:

  • Treat facilitators and other participants respectfully

  • Allow others an opportunity to speak and participate

  • Avoid threatening, harassing, discriminatory, abusive, or disruptive conduct

  • Follow reasonable facilitator instructions intended to maintain a safe and productive group

  • Protect the privacy of other participants

  • Avoid recording, photographing, livestreaming, or distributing class discussions without authorization

  • Participate in a manner that does not interfere with the ability of others to use the program

Akoko-Nan may warn, temporarily remove, restrict, or discontinue access for a participant whose conduct seriously disrupts the program, threatens safety, violates confidentiality, or repeatedly violates program expectations.

Whenever practical, Akoko-Nan will attempt to address concerns directly before ending participation.

Group Confidentiality

Parenting groups work best when participants can speak openly and respectfully.

Participants agree not to intentionally disclose another participant's personal story, identifying information, family circumstances, or statements outside the group without that person's permission.

Participants must not record or distribute class audio, video, screenshots, chat messages, or other participant communications without authorization.

Akoko-Nan takes confidentiality seriously, but it cannot guarantee that every participant will always honor these obligations.

Participants should use reasonable judgment when sharing highly sensitive personal information in a group setting.

Nothing in these Terms prevents Akoko-Nan from making a disclosure that is required by law or reasonably necessary to address an immediate safety concern.

Online Classes and Zoom

Akoko-Nan currently provides online class access using Zoom.

Participants may be able to join through their web browser or through the Zoom application.

Participants are responsible for having a reasonably functional internet connection and compatible device when attending online.

Akoko-Nan will make reasonable efforts to provide functioning access but cannot guarantee uninterrupted internet service, Zoom availability, device compatibility, or error-free online meetings.

Technical interruptions do not automatically count as attendance or non-attendance. Facilitators may make reasonable attendance determinations based on the circumstances.

Participants should use their own name or another name approved by Akoko-Nan when joining a class so facilitators can identify attendance.

Class Access Links

Class access is intended for registered participants.

Akoko-Nan may use secure email links and remembered-browser technology to simplify access.

Participants should not intentionally share private class-access links or authentication credentials with people who are not authorized to participate.

Akoko-Nan may revoke or reset access when reasonably necessary for security, participant status changes, misuse, or program administration.

Lessons and Program Materials

Akoko-Nan provides lesson materials for participant education and personal use.

Unless otherwise stated, program lessons, worksheets, graphics, written materials, website content, and related materials may not be sold, republished, commercially distributed, or represented as another organization's materials without permission.

Participants may print or save lesson materials for their own personal participation and parenting education.

Third-party material included or linked from Akoko-Nan resources remains subject to the rights of its respective owner.

Homework

Participants may submit homework through the Akoko-Nan website or by another method accepted by the program.

Homework may include written responses, photographs, or uploaded files.

Participants should avoid including unnecessary private or sensitive information, particularly identifying information about children or other people.

Submitting homework does not guarantee that a facilitator will provide individualized professional advice or immediate feedback.

Akoko-Nan may retain homework submissions as part of program administration and progress records as described in our Privacy Policy.

Program Fees

The standard Akoko-Nan program fee is based on $11 per session.

The website currently offers three common payment options:

Single Class
$11 for one session.

Weekly AutoPay
16 automatic weekly payments of $11, for a total of $176.

Pay in Full
A discounted payment of $160 covering the full 16-session program.

Reduced-cost arrangements may be available when needed. Participants may contact Akoko-Nan to discuss available options.

Payment is not required at the time of initial website registration unless Akoko-Nan specifically communicates otherwise.

Payment does not by itself establish attendance, participation, compliance, or completion.

Weekly AutoPay

Weekly AutoPay is a payment plan consisting of up to 16 automatic weekly payments of $11.

The payment schedule is based on calendar weeks and is not automatically adjusted based on individual attendance, missed classes, program breaks, or holidays.

The plan is intended as a convenient way to pay toward the program total rather than as an automated attendance-tracking system.

Participants may cancel future automatic payments before all 16 payments have been completed.

Cancellation can be requested through PayPal's automatic-payment controls or by contacting Akoko-Nan for assistance.

Canceling AutoPay stops future automatic charges once the cancellation takes effect. It does not automatically refund payments already completed.

If Akoko-Nan later changes its payment system to coordinate payments directly with confirmed attendance, the applicable payment terms will be updated before that system is used.

Pay in Full

The Pay in Full option is currently $160, a $16 discount compared with sixteen $11 payments.

Participants may use this option before, during, or near the end of their program participation unless Akoko-Nan communicates otherwise.

Paying in full does not independently establish that the participant attended or completed 16 sessions.

Program completion continues to be based on confirmed attendance and applicable program requirements.

Refunds

Refunds are not automatic.

A participant who believes a refund or payment adjustment is appropriate should contact Akoko-Nan.

Refund requests will be reviewed based on the circumstances, including the amount paid, participation to date, duplicate or mistaken payments, cancellation, and any applicable reduced-cost arrangement.

When a refund is approved, Akoko-Nan will make reasonable efforts to return the approved amount through the original payment method when practical.

Participants should contact us promptly if they believe a payment was made in error.

PayPal and Third-Party Payment Processing

Online payments are currently processed through PayPal.

Akoko-Nan does not directly collect or store full credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or card security codes entered into PayPal.

Use of PayPal is also governed by the agreements and policies applicable to the participant's relationship with PayPal.

Payment methods available at checkout may vary based on device, location, account status, and PayPal's services.

Referrals, Courts, and Agency Requirements

Some participants attend Akoko-Nan voluntarily. Others may participate because of a referral, case plan, court matter, social-worker recommendation, or another outside requirement.

Akoko-Nan does not control the requirements imposed by a court, DCFS, social worker, case worker, probation department, attorney, or other outside organization.

Participants are responsible for understanding requirements imposed on them by outside parties.

Akoko-Nan may provide authorized attendance, progress, or completion information when appropriate, as described in the participant's consent and our Privacy Policy.

Akoko-Nan cannot guarantee that an outside organization or court will accept participation, attendance, homework, a progress report, or a completion certificate as satisfying that organization's requirements.

Communications

By registering or requesting class access, participants authorize Akoko-Nan to send communications reasonably necessary to administer the program.

These may include:

  • Registration information

  • Class-access links

  • Schedule or format changes

  • Program notices

  • Responses to participant requests

  • Homework-related communication

  • Attendance, progress, or completion information

  • Administrative or security messages

Some operational or class-access communications may be sent even if a participant has chosen not to receive optional promotional communications.

Website Availability

We try to keep the Akoko-Nan website and online services available and accurate.

However, website functions may occasionally be interrupted by maintenance, software errors, internet outages, third-party services, security measures, or circumstances outside our control.

We may modify, replace, suspend, or discontinue website features when reasonably necessary.

Third-Party Services and Links

The website uses or links to services operated by third parties, including Wix, Zoom, PayPal, and Google.

Akoko-Nan is not responsible for the independent operation, availability, privacy practices, security practices, or terms of third-party services.

When using a third-party service, that provider's terms and policies may also apply.

No Guarantee of Particular Outcomes

Parenting and family circumstances vary substantially.

Akoko-Nan does not guarantee a particular parenting, family, court, child-welfare, employment, educational, therapeutic, or legal outcome as a result of participation.

Statements by facilitators, examples discussed during class, lesson materials, and participant experiences should not be interpreted as guarantees.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Akoko-Nan and its directors, staff, facilitators, volunteers, and representatives are not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising solely from use of the website, interruption of online services, reliance on general educational information, or the operation of third-party services.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be waived.

Changes to the Program or These Terms

Akoko-Nan may update program procedures, class format, schedules, website functions, payment options, or these Terms & Conditions when reasonably necessary.

When these Terms are materially updated, the effective date at the top of this page will be changed.

Where appropriate, significant changes affecting active participants may also be communicated directly.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where another law is required to apply.
